Psalm 70

Psalm 70

We do not believe in revenge

We do not want to fight back against our enemies. We do not want to be hurt, either. Then what choice do we have? We have to rely on God who is just and powerful. In a modern democratic society we do not allow personal revenge. We use judicial system to correct the wrong doings. This modern practice actually comes from the Biblical spirit. We rely on the higher power who is trusted as just and fair.

When the trusted leaders are corrupt, what can we do?

When the judicial system is broken and police does not function well, that is the time we have to pray to God, who judge the kings and rulers.

“Be pleased, O God, to deliver me. O Lord, make haste to help me! Let those be put to shame and confusion who seek my life. Let those be turned back and brought to dishonor who desire to hurt me. Let those who say, ‘Aha, Aha!’  turn back because of their shame.

We believe that God protects those who seek security from God

“Let all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let those who love your salvation say evermore, ‘God is great!’  But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay!”

Let us pour out our heart to God who listen to our prayers! God is ready and willing to help us. We do not have to use our own weapons and violence to make things right. Our faith is the foundation of our non-violence.
