Psalm 140

Psalm 140

Many people will speak ill of me.

We want to be loved. We want to be praised. We love to be appreciated. However, in life, we will hear others speaking ill of us. Not everybody has to love me. People will say whatever they want to say about me without any reason. If I am hurt every time when I hear some unfair remarks, my heart will be broken all the time. Let those words pass by and let God keep them in God’s heart, not mine. That is how God deliver us. We have to let God deliver us from evil doers.

“Deliver me, O Lord, from evildoers; protect me from those who are violent, who plan evil things in their minds and stir up wars continually. They make their tongue sharp as a snake’s, and under their lips is the venom of vipers. Selah”

Many people will attack me in many ways.

Some people do not just talking badly about me. They try to harm me with physical violence. Some try to use financial means to attack me. We cannot protect ourselves every time. However, as long as we keep our integrity and faithfulness, God will protect us and save our wholeness. We many lose temporarily a part of our resources but we will regain the whole eventually.

“Guard me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; protect me from the violent who have planned my downfall. The arrogant have hidden a trap for me, and with cords they have spread a net, along the road they have set snares for me. Selah”

It is my attitude and my behavior that determine my destiny.

Whatever others do, they do not determine my destiny. They can control outside conditions but I am the one who can control my responses. As long as I keep my faithful attitude and upright behavior, I will have great life and successful career because God is alive and well. God would not allow evil to prevail!

“I say to the Lord, ‘You are my God; give ear, O Lord, to the voice of my supplications.’ O Lord, my Lord, my strong deliverer, you have covered my head in the day of battle. Do not grant, O Lord, the desires of the wicked; do not further their evil plot. Selah

Those who surround me lift up their heads; let the mischief of their lips overwhelm them! Let burning coals fall on them! Let them be flung into pits, no more to rise! Do not let the slanderer be established in the land; let evil speedily hunt down the violent! I know that the Lord maintains the cause of the needy, and executes justice for the poor. Surely the righteous shall give thanks to your name; the upright shall live in your presence.”
